Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Deanna!

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 20 years of therapeutic experience, I am dedicated to assisting people in navigating their lives. I specialize in treating various life challenges and diagnoses, with a focus on anxiety, women's issues, relationship challenges (including sexuality), and working with adults within the LGBTQ+ community.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is eclectic in nature. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself. I believe that mental health is as crucial to your life's journey as physical health, and both must be in balance for optimal well-being.

My focus

I work with individuals, couples, and families, catering to a wide range of needs. My areas of expertise include aging, anxiety, career counseling, chronic illness, chronic pain, cultural stress, coping skills, divorce, dual diagnosis, job stress, family conflict, legal stress, life coaching, life transitions, marital/pre-marital issues, panic attacks, racial trauma, sexual orientation, sex therapy, relationship issues, women's issues, depression, and LGBTQIA+ related concerns.

My communication style

Whether you are facing work-related issues, relationship challenges, struggling with coping skills, or adjusting to life changes, I will collaborate with you to improve your everyday functioning. Together, we will identify healthy coping mechanisms, manage your defense mechanisms, and cultivate self-love and acceptance. I believe in your inherent power and resilience.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey in mental healthcare began in January 1989 when I started my clinical hours for licensure at Tinley Park Mental Health Center (now closed). From January 1991 to December 1992, I continued my clinical training under the supervision of Geneva Carter, LCSW (now deceased), through the Social Service Department at 16501 Kedzie, Markham, Illinois. These experiences laid the foundation for my career as a dedicated mental health professional.

My goals for you

My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights necessary to lead a more fulfilling life. Through our therapeutic partnership, I aim to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, strengthen your relationships, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. I am committed to supporting you on your journey towards personal growth and well-being.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will focus on establishing a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and understanding. I will take the time to listen to your story, concerns, and goals for therapy. Together, we will explore your current challenges and begin to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and aspirations. This initial session will serve as the foundation for our ongoing work together, as we collaborate to help you achieve lasting positive change in your life.
