My communication style

While I can speak "Psychobabble" very well, I try to be down to earth and easy to understand with others. So if I slip up or someone else uses an unfamilar term, be sure to check it out with me! Most use the technique of "active listening," which they learned in graduate training, but I got it from my grandmother who had 9 children & much practice!

My journey to mental healthcare

I was an Airline Flight Attendant after college, back when the big jets were shiny, new, and only had 2 seats on each side of the plane! My goal became passenger-centered, not only a zillion procedures to save lives, but also deal with what I called "the white knuckled, those who hold armrests so tightly that the knuckles turn white-reassurance!

My goals for you

Of course, I ask about counseling goals, but I can also use an imagery relaxation technique where one relaxes and envisions what they would like to be and feel like when sessions are done. Can also add, where and who with to that vision! This often expands one's view and goals. Why not go for GOLD!

Our first session

To begin, we will check out your story and what your goals are. I can do assessments or psych testing to aid in this process. I also have an exercise called the Life Road Map Picture in which you can note in drawing or words the wounds, accomplishments, insights, and support you have had in your life. Then we can add to that picture for the future.
