My name is Frazier Woods Jr. and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana. I value the lived experiences of adults and engage with them through person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapeutic approaches.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is a combination of person-centered therapy (reflective-listening, empathy, and acceptance) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (the interconnection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors). This approach fosters clarity and direction in our work together.
My focus
I am privileged to work adults & college-aged students regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or familiarity/comfortability with therapy. My approach works best with individuals seeking safety (a non-judgmental space to share their concerns) & support (cognitive approaches/practical tools that will improve client functioning) in the areas of anxiety, depression, & other life experiences that cause distress or impairment.
My communication style
My communication style is personable and hospitable. My clients feel at ease and I pride myself on creating a comfortable environment for that to happen. The client’s vulnerability in seeking counseling is met with respect and professionalism.
My journey to mental healthcare
My counseling journey began when a previous career in education ended. After some time in reflection, my gifts/talents led me to pursue my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. Its an honor to assist in the well-being and personal growth of those who seek therapy.
My goals for you
Goal-setting is a collaborative effort that is led by the client and their needs. An on-going review of progress is necessary in order to establish a reasonable conclusion of our counseling relationship.
My first session with you
The client can expect a brief introduction before counselor & client expectations are shared. A conversation about the presenting problem and its impact will provide an opportunity for us to determine if its in our best interest to continue working together.
