My communication style

Ever wish you could share some of the things you've seen and lived through, but worry you’ll be judged or misunderstood? With me, you don’t have to worry. My style is direct and informal, and at this stage of my career, I am pretty hard to shock. So go ahead and say whatever is on your mind. I’ll listen without judgment.

My journey to mental healthcare

I came into this work accidentally nearly 15 years ago. I was a graphic design student who needed a job. My interests and goals changed the day I started work at the front desk of a new outreach program at a mental health agency. Suddenly, 200 people were at my desk, each with a host of complex needs and worries I had no ability to address.

My goals for you

Goals are important, and many efforts are wasted when folks don’t have a specific goal in mind. You might say, “I just want to feel better.” But what does “better” look like, for you, in your current circumstances? Trying to make progress towards “better” is like fumbling in a dark room, hoping you won’t walk into the furniture.

Our first session

During our first session, we’ll have two major tasks: We’ll need to start getting to know each other, while also getting through some of the paperwork and procedural requirements for ongoing therapy. In healthy relationships, trust takes time to develop, and the relationship with your therapist should be a model for relationship health.
