My name is Naomi Fernandez and I am a licensed clinical social worker. My approach is client centered, collaborative and compassionate. I want my clients to feel safe to navigate the challenges of life while being supported.
My approach
I use a variety of modalities including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, person-centered therapy, family system therapy, feminist therapy, and existential therapy.
My focus
I work with people from all walks of life but especially work with clients form minority backgrounds, women, mothers and others who might be going through changes, different life stressors, struggling with trauma, anxiety or depression.
My communication style
My communication style is flexible depending on your communication style, but I prefer a direct communication style that is also nurturing and compassionate. Our environment will be flexible and compassionate. Working with me means having a space to elaborate on things that are impacting you and hopefully developing some tools to manage them.
My journey to mental healthcare
I always wanted to help others and I wanted them to feel supported through hard times. At some point in my life I needed that support myself and I had great support and not so good support. My goal was to provide care, support and compassion in a way were people felt seen and understood as well as supported in a professional, collaborative, and flexible manner.
My goals for you
Goal setting is client centered and collaborative which means we will discuss how to use our time together in a way that benefits you and meets your needs.
My first session with you
During our first session, I will ask several questions to try to understand why you are meeting with me. We will also discuss expectations of our time and work together.
