My name is Audra Bell and I am a Psychotherapist certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I work with clients throughout Missouri via telehealth. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or other life stressors using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems Theory. I find it most helpful to start where the client feels comfortable and work right away towards helping clients find progress and relief quickly.
My approach
CBT methods are clear and easy to frame in your daily life. I use this approach along with Family Systems Theory which looks at the “total picture” of a client’s complex social system including family, friends, significant others, coworkers, and overall environment. It is often easy to explore these influences within the individual client session.
My focus
I have extensive experience with adults, children, and teens, however, I currently work mostly with adults. I work with anxiety, depression, and most life issues. I have special interest in infertility, adoption, and autism/Asperger’s Syndrome. I have worked with several military, firefighter, and aviation professionals due to my family background. I work with clients from many religions, backgrounds, and orientations. Additionally, I am a Christian and work with many who desire that understanding.
My communication style
I am casual and easygoing, yet focused and motivated to help you achieve your goals. I am usually described as easy to talk with right away, but also appreciated for my dedication to each client’s goals. We will move at a pace that is right for you.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been interested in psychology since we had a wonderful psychology program at my high school in Kansas City. I never looked back as I earned my Bachelor of Psychology from Truman State University in Kirksville and continued right into getting a Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis to be a psychotherapist. This has been my lifelong career and I truly enjoy working with clients to improve their daily lives.
My goals for you
Often it is most beneficial to start where the client is comfortable. Starting with issues in your daily life is perfectly fine or you may want to explore the past as you are ready. Wherever you are, there is a path to change for the better.
My first session with you
The first session we will talk about how you are doing and what expectations you may have for therapy. I usually get some background from you and answer any questions you have. Usually, clients report feeling some relief after the first session and a sense of direction. I will help you work right away towards feeling better.
