Hi there, I'm Aimee!

Whether I am working with a young child or an adult, I believe that the healing process is a journey of returning home to the authentic self with the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle supporting the exploration. My name is Aimee and I hope to walk along with you on this journey, offering compassion, co-regulation, and some education along the way. When we can lean into the understanding of how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have come to be, we may also begin to explore where we may have gotten stuck and how we can have a renewed access to the wisdom and assets that our bodies possess.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each individual I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I incorporate mindfulness into all of our sessions. Whichever the modality, we work to chart a path forward.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for children, teens, and adults who may be dealing with emotional challenges of the past, life transitions, and social pressures. This often takes on the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I also have a background in working with children and individuals who have experienced trauma. I work to help my clients navigate the impact of these experiences and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves, feel safe, and develop a more functioning life where they are in control.

My communication style

I am calm and use a reassuring and respectful tone. I work to ensure that you feel warm and invited into our space together, even when meeting virtually. There is no judgment here and I will hold space for you to feel safe and heard. I will challenge you where you need to be challenged.

My journey to mental healthcare

I worked many years in the child welfare system supporting the emotional fallout of children who were abused and neglected. I have three adopted siblings so this field has always been close to my heart. What I came to realize, was that more often than not, the parents of these children were abused and neglected also and so the cycle continues. I decided to move on from child welfare to work individually on healing.

My goals for you

Goals are a huge factor in progress. It is important to me that we identify what you want to accomplish in our space together and track your progress. This often starts by building trust and understanding what it means to be in therapy.

My first session with you

Our first session together is usually focused on helping to build a therapeutic relationship between us by helping me to gain more insight into your life, current functioning, desires, and goals. I am okay with silence and will work with you at the pace you are comfortable with.
