My communication style

I try to create an atmosphere of acceptance and relaxation. I believe clients do well in an environment of comfort, trust, and predictability. I make expectations of counseling clear and work carefully to craft attainable and agreeable goals with my clients.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began as a high school teacher and quickly realized I was in over my head regarding the mental health needs of my students. After struggling with post-partum depression following the birth of my third child, I began my work in counseling in earnest.

My goals for you

I believe setting realistic goals is key to success in counseling. It's always my goal to engage clients in a cooperative effort of goal setting and to check in and reevaluate these goals consistently to ensure we're moving towards progress.

Our first session

The first session is for you to interview and evaluate me without pressure or expectations. It's a time of introductions, motivational interviewing, goal setting, and possible agreement to initiate services. I outline a tentative timeline and discuss specific, attainable goals.
