Hello, my name is Jill Miller and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, and a Substance Abuse Professional in the State of Ohio, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the State of Arizona, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Massachusetts and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Utah. I believe that in order to have a successful relationship and outcome with my clients that there needs to be mutual trust, understanding, and good rapport. I use one of several therapeutic modalities, depending on what issue one is having in their life. I treat clients who have: depression, anxiety, stress, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, and Panic Attacks.
My approach
I use one of several therapeutic modalities, depending on what issue one is having in their life. The modalities may include but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Motivational Interviewing Skills, and learning new coping skills.
My focus
I work with adults aged 18+ and with a variety of different presentations. I have mainly had clients in my office with depression, anxiety, stress, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, and Panic Attacks. I find that I am comfortable treating all of these disorders and enjoy working with my clients.
My communication style
My demeanor is calming and with a quieter tone to my voice. I am non-judgmental and I am caring and empathetic with my clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always worked in the "helping" profession and when the workplace that I was last working was closing down I decided to go to College and become a Social Worker. I received my Associate's Degree and found that I wasn't able to counsel clients with that degree so went on for my Bachelor's degree and then just kept going for my Masters's Degree. I like helping others and what better profession to do that in than this?!
My goals for you
I ask the client what brought them to counseling and what they hope to accomplish while they are in counseling services and we formulate their goals based on what the client wants from their sessions.
My first session with you
During the first session, we will get to know each other and build trust and rapport. The client will be able to ask more questions of me, if they have any and I will ask the client background information on them and what brought them to seek counseling so that we can formulate their treatment plan during this first session as well.
