I'll listen to your concerns and often use clarifying questions to ensure my understanding. You'll note that I take notes during visits—this is for my review on future visits to ensure you're feeling better.

My journey to mental healthcare

I initially worked in primary care, where I encountered many patients with mental health concerns. Observing their improvement was positive, but when some clients' illnesses were beyond my expertise, I faced delays in referring them to psychiatry. I decided to pursue further education in psychiatric mental health.

I use a collaborative approach to goal setting.

Our first session

The first session will last 45-60 minutes. I'll ask about reasons for seeking treatment, your upbringing, medical history, habits, and your family's mental health and substance abuse history. Sometimes clients aren't comfortable discussing aspects of their past on the first visit and that's ok!
