My name is Lisa Golden. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I am based in Los Angeles and work with clients statewide via telehealth. I treat depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. I also treat trauma, communication, and behavioral challenges. Experience in addiction: both substance and behavioral addictions.
My approach
I am most comfortable using a diverse theoretical approach derived and influenced by Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Family Systems therapy. I can assist, teach, and guide you, in a safe and confidential environment, and together we can navigate the past, the present, and the future with hope and purpose.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with life challenges, being out of balance, transitions, trauma, and relationship issues. This shows up in people in a variety of ways that may include anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship issues, trauma, and substance use disorders.
My communication style
I offer clients a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to explore, process, and understand themselves and their experiences. I will listen, guide, and support you unconditionally, honoring who you are through a caring, compassionate, and holistic approach. I am open, calm, personable, and use humor when appropriate.
My journey to mental healthcare
Becoming a therapist was a childhood dream. I am a therapist who has a passion for helping others. After a career in human resources and raising my children, I was able to realize that dream. With an advanced education, training, hands-on clinical work, and life experience, I am equipped and able to help people on their journeys towards change, growth, and healing from loss and trauma, managing their depression and anxiety, building and maintaining strong and healthy relationships and becoming a person who is emotionally connected to yourself and has an increased sense of inner peace.
My goals for you
I believe goal setting is a collaborative process. I feel people are more likely to work towards their goals if they are an active participant. I can also be more directive with people if they need encouragement and help getting motivated.
My first session with you
Our first session together will be an opportunity to get to know one another and make sure it seems like a good fit for you. I want to learn as much as I can about why you are seeking therapy and what you hope to get out of it so I can begin to understand how to support and help. Each person is an individual who is different from any other. Therefore, my approach is unique to each client. We will work collaboratively to find what helps and supports you to achieve your therapeutic goals.
