Hi there, I'm Amy!

My name is Amy Cornell, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. Currently, I work with adult clients via telehealth in the state of Pennsylvania and specialize in depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues while incorporating a complementary approach to therapy comprised of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Solution-Focused Therapy concepts.

My approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative and based on client needs. I utilize a clinical orientation that integrates concepts and techniques, emphasizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, to identify treatment priorities, personal strengths, and natural supports and create a therapeutic foundation and a path forward toward healing that works for each client.

My focus

My present focus is providing individual therapy to adults aged 25 and above who encounter life stressors and obstacles that may impact their quality of life, disrupt personal esteem, alter healthy interpersonal relationship patterns, increase family distress, and career instability. My specialties include emotional disturbances, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, esteem issues, stress management, family and career distress, life coaching, codependency, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues.

My communication style

I am passionate about supporting my clients in a relaxed environment with calm understanding and acceptance through their personal and life challenges so they can gain resiliency and experience healing and growth. During my practice, clients have expressed that I have a "grounded" and "down-to-earth" style of communication.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is collaborative, practical, and realistic. During our time together, you will have an opportunity to define what you want to accomplish. This often starts by establishing a positive regard and getting comfortable with therapy. Over time, we will work together to set goals and track your progress.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will discuss your presenting concern(s) and explore your thoughts and feelings about your concern(s). Additionally, I will also ask various questions to better understand you, build trust and rapport with you, identify your current methods of coping, and desired outcomes for therapy.
