Hello! I'm Marisol Guerra-Garza! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about supporting clients through various life occurrences, changes, and stressors.
My approach
My counseling approach is person-centered and solution-focused. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, as everyone has their story to tell. Our sessions will be personalized to meet your treatment goals and objectives.
My focus
I enjoy working with Adults and Adolescents and have over 10 years of experience working in various therapeutic settings, which include treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, stress, lack of motivation, low self-esteem, life/career changes, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.
My communication style
My counseling style is pretty laid-back and casual. I have been described as compassionate, open-minded, and a good listener with a pretty good sense of humor. I try and help clients focus on their strengths and help them use those strengths to overcome life's obstacles.
My journey to mental healthcare
After completing my undergrad in Psychology and Communication, it was my very own career counselor in college that first introduced me to the concept of therapy and being a counselor. I have always enjoyed talking, listening, and guiding friends and family through life's issues and stressors. Helping others process difficult situations has always been very fulfilling and is what drives me to continue helping those that seek out assistance.
My goals for you
I believe that change comes with setting goals, and therefore setting goals is a topic that will be presented at the commencement of your sessions in order to help guide and provide motivation to achieve the changes and or address the concerns that need to be worked through and or processed.
My first session with you
During your first session, expect to go over assessment scores and provide information regarding your emergency contact, background/history, and what brings you to therapy.
