Hi there, I'm James!

I approach therapy from a trauma-informed perspective and have worked with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, codependency, and trauma.

My focus

I work best with those with past or present substance use, anxiety, depression, bipolar, sleep and wake issues, and men's issues.

My approach

I utilize a trauma-informed approach along with a humanistic and existential approach. I also draw from CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, experiential, and Jungian-type modalities. I am eclectic in my approach and I aim to find the right approach and modality to help you move toward your therapeutic goals.

My communication style

I aim to create a warm, inviting space where communication is allowed to flow. I practice reflective listening and will challenge thoughts at times in a direct and sometimes indirect manner.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have had a dream since I was young to be a therapist in private practice. Some of those twists and turns have been very challenging and difficult. I come to this work with humbleness and great respect for the seeker. I work to co-create a world of safety, connection, and freedom using practices for the mind, heart, and soul.

My goals for you

The best way to describe my approach to goal setting is to ask directly what your goals are. If they are unclear, I will work with you to help gain clarity and develop achievable goals. Treatment goals are yours as the patient; I am here to help utilize processes to help progress toward these goals.

Our first session

The first session with me will be an introduction session and a review of any concerns you may have. During this session, we will review some of the information on the intake documentation and look for any potential goals you may have.
