Hi there, I'm John-Mark!

I am licensed as both a professional and an alcohol and drug addiction counselor. I have over twenty years of personal recovery, am authentic, and tend to be very direct. If you are willing to work hard in therapy, I am a good choice for you.

My focus

I enjoy working with clients who are open to exploring their family of origin and the attachment wounds and programming that prevent them from living their best life.

My approach

I use an eclectic blend of modalities, all rooted in cognitive behavioral. I use EMDR and brain spotting for trauma work (in person only). I am recently certified as an Imago group facilitator.

My communication style

I am no-nonsense in terms of transparency and assertiveness. I am comfortable holding space for anger and grief. I have a sense of humor and try to intermix some levity with what can be heavy.

My journey to mental healthcare

I knew I would be a therapist as a teenager, as I was always a good listener and non-judgmental with friends. I am a Desert Storm-era Navy veteran and had a successful business career prior to going back to grad school and pursuing this as a second career.

I like to use the Imago dialogue to help draw clients out and identify their own goals, as it is their own life.
