Hi there, I'm Barbara!

I help people overcome trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use. I have a no-nonsense, non-judgmental approach and am down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I believe people do the best they can with what they have, and that mistakes are for learning.

I work with clients struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, substance use, trauma, and relationship issues.

My approach

My approach is eclectic and holistic, tailored to your needs. I combine cognitive-behavioral theory, developmental psychology, attachment theory, and existential psychology. I believe shame is the root cause of self-destructive patterns, and I teach self-compassion as an antidote.

My communication style

I create a safe environment where you can be yourself. I'm down-to-earth and approachable, and I believe laughter is good medicine. I encourage the full range of emotional expression, including tapping into joy.

My journey to mental healthcare

I began my career as a community organizer for a battered women's shelter and rape crisis center. Through that experience, I became committed to helping women and children overcome trauma. Where many saw suffering, I saw resilience and courage.
