Hello! My name is Chapin and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I utilize a trauma-informed, client-centered approach in therapy to create a welcoming environment that encourages hope and growth.
My approach
In therapy, I most commonly utilize the approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Through this approach, I help clients identify dysfunctional or negative thinking patterns and core beliefs that can be affecting the way they face their difficulties in life. Together we work to modify these ideas and develop skills to help face difficulties with a different perspective and improved skills. I believe that therapy requires a combination of evidence-based practices and therapeutic skills that create an open environment.
My focus
I have experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, anger, suicidal ideation, grief, and emotional disturbance within the school setting.
My communication style
I aim to create a welcoming environment where my clients feel seen and heard. I hope to create a space where you feel empowered to engage in counseling and make positive steps toward growth you are seeking to find.
My first session with you
The first session is designed to help grow a comfortable environment and help you build a sense of trust in myself as the therapist and in the therapeutic process. As we discuss what brings you to counseling, and I dive deeper with further questions to improve my understanding, I hope to build a sense of rapport that encourages you in your decision to pursue therapy. After developing a sense of your background and needs, we will work together to define measurable and attainable goals that you hope to reach in your time in therapy.
