I am Nazanin Delshad. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with about 10 years of experience in private practice. I was originally licensed in Florida and, more recently, here in Texas. I have worked with various clients, including children, adults, and couples.
My approach
I believe that each client is different, and therefore my therapeutic approach should be specific to each client. I like to incorporate Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Gottman Method, Trauma Focused-CBT, and Psychodynamic theories as needed for each client.
My focus
I most frequently work with teenagers and young adults going through life stages and transitions. I also specialize in improving relationships, boundaries, and communication.
My communication style
I try to create a safe space for my clients so they feel comfortable enough to discuss anything that may be on their minds. I shower my clients with unconditional positive regard and understanding. When necessary, I challenge my clients to change dysfunctional patterns that may be causing them distress.
My journey to mental healthcare
I had some personal experiences that led me to start my own therapy. My healing journey inspired me to support others in doing the same.
My goals for you
After the initial information gathering, I like to work with my clients to come up with reasonable and achievable goals.
My first session with you
During our first session, I will introduce myself and talk about confidentiality. I will then ask you to tell me about what is bringing you to therapy, your history, and any other pertinent information. Toward the end of our first session, we will evaluate whether this is a good fit for us to continue working together. We will then discuss therapy goals and schedule our next appointment.
