I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Colorado with over 7 years of experience as an intake coordinator, counselor, and crisis prevention. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, mood disorders, intellectual disabilities, and ADHD. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My approach
My counseling style is collaborative. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I also believe in honesty and do not like to sugarcoat things. The working relationship is powerful when it comes to success in therapy. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapy.
My focus
I typically work with a wide range of clients varying in age, socioeconomic status, and ethnic background. While I have dealt with many different issues, I tend to help people along their journey who experience depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD.
My communication style
I hope to create a warm environment when it comes to working with clients. I ask that each client let me know if they do not feel like something is right or if the counselor/client relationship is not working for them. This should be a place where a client feels like they matter.
My journey to mental healthcare
I did not know that I wanted to be a therapist until taking a psychology class as an undergraduate. It was an eye-opening experience. I am driven to this work due to my own trauma/healing and struggles with mental health. I feel that if you do not struggle with your own mental health issues, it may be harder to relate to those you help.
My goals for you
As far as goals, the clients take the lead. Goals change as therapy deepens.
My first session with you
During the first session, the client should expect an intake to be done. The intake could be boring and repetitive with all the questions. Try to stick with it past the first session!!
