I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I completed my Master’s degree at Bethel University, and I am currently licensed in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. I have 16 years of professional experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. I am also a certified Prepare/Enrich Couples Inventory Facilitator. P/E inventory is a scientifically reliable and valid assessment tool that quickly identifies couple strengths and problem areas to be addressed in therapy.
My approach
My clients benefit from a client-centered, strengths-based approach that inspires them to utilize their strengths and insights as they move toward health and wholeness. My approach is influenced by my education and training in family systems and attachment-based theoretical models. I utilize interventions from several treatment models including Narrative therapy, Emotion-Focused, Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. If requested, I also provide Christian-based therapy for those who value incorporating their faith, prayer, and scriptures into their treatment.
My focus
My primary focus is the treatment of adult individuals who struggle with relationship issues, trauma, abuse, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, history of addiction, codependency, etc. During my therapy sessions, clients learn practical tools, strategies, and skills that empower them to maintain the positive changes they achieve. As a marriage therapist, I help couples repair ruptures in their relationships, rebuild trust, improve their communication, and rekindle intimacy
My communication style
My clients experience genuine empathy and a nonjudgmental style that allows them to quickly feel valued, safe, and at ease.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to a career as a mental health professional by my strong desire to equip individuals, couples, and families with effective tools to help them navigate through the challenges of life and experience greater stability and emotional well-being.
My goals for you
Early in treatment, clients will clarify what they hope to accomplish during treatment, then together we will identify specific measurable treatment goals. As treatment progresses, I check in with clients frequently to ensure that therapy is targeting their needs and is effective in helping them reach their goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, I gather background information and complete an intake assessment with the client. I will also inform the client about what to expect over the course of their treatment, explain what my responsibilities are, and what is expected of them as a participant in therapy. I welcome any questions the client may have throughout their treatment.
