Hello! My name is Michelle Roncevic and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). If you have a desire to feel better, or improve your functioning in some area of life, and are motivated and willing to do the work, I can help support you on your journey towards change and fulfillment.
My approach
I take a person-centered approach to treatment and I believe that the quality of therapeutic rapport established within the professional relationship is a significant facilitator towards change. Once rapport is established then I am very skills-based in my approach to treatment. I primarily use person-centered techniques, CBT, and DBT skills in my practice.
My focus
I work with adults of all ages, 18+. I primarily work with treating anxiety, depression, management of bipolar disorder, emotional issues, grief and loss, stress, and phase of life distress.
My communication style
I take an active approach to working collaboratively with my clients throughout the entire therapeutic process, and I encourage my clients to be actively engaged in their own treatment. I describe my approach as compassionately direct, as I am upfront and genuine in my treatment of clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
I wanted a career for myself that would allow me the opportunity to give back to my community as well as help people in a personally meaningful and fulfilling way. I have a varied and diverse background in my own life experiences as well as my professional development as a therapist, and this has always ignited my curiosity about the world and the people in it. In being a professional therapist, I satisfy that curiosity and love to continue to learn about myself, others, and the world at large.
My goals for you
I encourage and support clients with taking a more active and collaborative approach to identifying treatment goals and the action steps for achieving these goals. I listen to what change means for each specific client and then collaborate with them in exploring what the action steps could be for achieving those changes. We continue to collaborate until we both are in agreement and comfortable with the treatment goals and the action steps.
My first session with you
The first session with me is more relaxed where get familiar with each other. I share about my background as a therapist and the client can get a feel for my style and personality. I also explain what the client can expect throughout the treatment process with me to demystify the process. If all of that sounds good to the client, I then continue with gathering more information about the client and why they are seeking therapy now.
