My name is Lan Wang. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist based in Irvine, California, and I provide teletherapy to clients statewide. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, stress, and adjustment to life transitions. I also work with couples and families. I mainly use the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework and techniques to assist my clients.
My approach
I hold unconditional positive regard (showing complete support and acceptance) toward my clients. I also pay great attention to cultural sensitivity in therapy. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients improve their mood by adjusting their thoughts.
My focus
I work with individual adults, couples, and families. I am experienced in treating depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders caused by various kinds of issues, including family of origin, interpersonal problems, low self-esteem, loss of loved ones, trauma, life transitions, etc.
My communication style
I listen to my clients calmly and attentively with a supportive heart. I am good at keeping the conversation flowing and engaging. People often feel it easy to talk to me and be understood.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist in the healing journey of my childhood trauma. I found that people may look fine on the outside, but they are hurting and suffering inside. I have the passion for providing a safe and trustworthy mental space for people to share and process their emotional pains so that they can experience more true relief and happiness.
My first session with you
In our first session, I would like to listen to what is bothering you and how you have been feeling. I will also ask questions to identify the possible underlying reasons. In addition, we will talk about what goals to set for therapy.
