Hi, my name is Alma Tejeda, LMFT 136038, a bilingual (Spanish/ English) first-generation Latina, psychotherapist based in Southern California, specializing in Latinx Family systems, and individual adult therapy.
My approach
I take an eclectic approach including Cognitive behavioral therapy (how thoughts feelings and behaviors are interconnected), and attachment-based psychodynamic and person-centered approaches to meet each individual's need.
My focus
I enjoy working with both individuals and families who have experienced past trauma and suffer from depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, perfectionism, and could benefit from parenting support.
My communication style
My priority is to provide a non-judgmental and genuine natural flowing safe space for clients to open up, gain insight, share reflection, and gain skills to help my clients meet their therapy goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I feel that my career as a psychotherapist was chosen for me. From a very young age, I have experienced numerous struggles and hardships that I managed to overcome through resilience and a positive mindset. Mental health has played a significant role in my life, tracing back to my ancestors. I am incredibly grateful for having navigated through those challenges, as they ultimately guided me toward pursuing this profession, wherein I can assist others in their journey to overcome adversity. I also had the privilege of being supported by an exceptional therapist who guided me out of a profound state of depression.
My goals for you
Goal setting is made through collaborative and mutual agreement and discussion.
My first session with you
Complete and review of initial intake assessment paperwork and questionnaires to better learn about and help assess client's needs.
