Hi there, I'm Dena!

My goal in providing therapy is to make a difference for everyone, one day at a time. I meet my clients where they are and consider their whole environment when identifying issues and resolving them.

My focus

I have worked with a very diverse population in many different environments. I am very comfortable working in a variety of conditions. Some of the most common conditions I see include depression, anxiety, transgender issues, relationship problems, attachment issues, self-esteem issues, and anger problems.

My approach

My approach to therapy is eclectic; I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and coping skills.

My communication style

The tone of my sessions is guided by the client. I set a tone and environment that encourages discussion, exploration, and trust. The client has complete autonomy to share as much as they feel comfortable. I also encourage my clients to check in at the beginning and end of each session.

My journey to mental healthcare

I realized that having someone to talk to and a safe place to say the hard things was helpful. I also noticed I have always been that friend everyone talks to to process their problems. I feel it is important to be able to create that space for anyone who likes to have it.

My goals for you

Once the immediate issues are identified, I encourage the individual to set small, short-term, easily attainable goals. Then the short-term goals can lead up to a long-term goal.

Our first session

The first session is for asking questions and gathering information. The client can ask questions and for what they feel they need in therapy, and I can get an idea of what their life experiences have been.
