Hello, I am Karla Edwards. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have 19 years of experience working with different populations using CBT and other methods to help clients feel their best.
My approach
I believe in setting clear goals. In setting a goal for therapy, it helps identify progress. My approach is based on the client's needs. I use mindfulness, CBT, and Solution Focus to help clients meet their goals for therapy.
My focus
My style and approach work best with individuals from the ages of 18 to 65 who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger issues, relationship issues, parenting issues, and life transitions.
My communication style
My tone is calm and soft-spoken to create an environment where clients feel comfortable. I am a professional therapist who can add a little laughter at times. I believe humor is a tool to use in therapy.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist when I realized I can have a career in a field where I can help people. Growing up, my friends would always come to me with their problems, and I would try to help them get through them. Seeing clients grow and get better is why I do this every day.
My goals for you
Once I understand what the client needs, we can start collaborating on goal-setting. For me, setting a goal for practice is a way to keep us on track with what we are working on together.
My first session with you
What you can expect from the first session together is for us to spend our time getting to know more about you and what brings you in. I will ask questions to better understand your situation. The first session is to establish rapport and gather information on what we will be working on together moving forward.
