Hello, my name is Dr. Jean Stapp. I am a licensed psychologist (license number: PSY 33583) with extensive training and experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, and relationship issues. My ultimate goal is to help my clients take the steps they need to shape the kinds of lives that they desire.
My approach
As a therapist, I take a collaborative and integrative approach to therapy. I believe that each client is unique and requires an individualized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs and goals. I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapies to create a tailored treatment plan for each client, including CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT, and MBSR.
My focus
I typically work with individuals undergoing depression, anxiety, childhood trauma (or coming to terms with a difficult and confusing childhood), sexual abuse/assault, life transitions, eating disorders, and relationship issues.
My communication style
I seek to foster a compassionate, non-judgmental, and open therapeutic space. Clients usually find me friendly, warm, and careful in examining the ways they look at things in their lives.
My journey to mental healthcare
Throughout my education and training, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from all walks of life. These people all touched my life in some way and instilled a passion in me for helping others. I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that therapy can have on people's lives, and I am honored to be a part of that process.
My goals for you
Goal-setting is dynamic and collaborative. I will offer my point-of-view regarding what I think would be most helpful to address, based on your presenting concerns, but you are the expert when it comes to your life. Let’s discuss!
My first session with you
A first session consists of getting to know the issues you are currently facing and how they came to be. At the end of the session, I summarize the major issues - from your perspective as well as mine - and together we construct our therapy goals.
