My focus
I have a wide range of experience working with different populations including individuals, adolescents, and couples. I found that my approach is helpful for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal skills, addiction, psychosis, and life transitions.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because it was a natural fit. I truly enjoy helping others whether it is volunteering in my community, helping out family, or being a trusted and loyal friend. I remember my best friend in college telling me that she was going to quit therapy. She said, " I think I met my goals and I have you to talk to should I need to talk". That was before I knew I wanted to be a therapist. Her statement defiantly planted a seed. My experience with school counselors is what really inspired me. I remember how helpful they were through my education journey and I want to do the same for others.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. My main focus is to build a safe therapeutic environment to build trust and help you feel comfortable working together. I will start by learning more about you and your concerns.
My first session with you
I'll start the first session by providing you with basic formal information that is required by law to discuss during the first session. I will ask about your personal and family life, career, mental health symptoms, family history, experience with substance use, and about your past mental health treatment. We will move into some goal setting by identifying how you would like things to be different. I will prompt you by asking questions to learn more about you and take more of a listening role.
