Hi, there! My name is Kendra Hadley, and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of California (LPCC #14503). My areas of expertise are addiction, mental health, trauma, and couples counseling. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions to help people become the best possible versions of themselves.
My approach
I am a proponent of Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and borrow heavily from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) along with healthy doses of person-centered and motivational interviewing techniques. I customize my chosen theoretical model based off the individual needs of the client.
My focus
I work primarily with a culturally diverse population of young adults who struggle with a variety of habits and hang-ups, i.e. drug and alcohol addiction, process addiction (i.e. sex, gaming, etc.), and more. I provide trauma-informed mental health services to people of all ages and demographics and specialize in couples counseling for those in monogamous and non-monogamous partnerships.
My communication style
I am definitely not your typical psychotherapist when it comes to my communication style and delivery. I am a native of Chicago, IL, and pride myself on being an educated "around-the-way" girl with a blend of professional competence and person-centered compassion. I utilize my active listening skills to engage with my clients in a way that is raw, reflective, and genuine. The tone I set for my sessions is one of unconditional positive regard fostered with warmth, empathy, and relatability.
