Hi, my name is Monica M. DeLaCruz, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I’d like to think of therapy as a process of self-discovery and exploration. I care deeply about supporting people when they feel lonely, have difficulty with transitions, are stuck and hopeless, and have tried the usual things that are not working. This can look like transitions, divorce, or the death of a loved one. This is where I come in. My approach is warm and engaging, and I use evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and attachment theory. These tools are effective in treating anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as reducing stress. When working together, I will assist in making one feel safe, even when one is at their most vulnerable, and together, we can uncover underlying parts of one’s story that need healing and attention.
My approach
My most common approaches are Client Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
I work with high-functioning adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, and mood disorders.
My communication style
My communication style creates a safe space by exploring more profound parts of oneself that require attention.
My journey to mental healthcare
What attracted me to the career as a therapist was experiencing loss in my family and the difficulty I had with life transitions. This made me explore and seek my own therapy for personal healing. What drives me to do the work is seeing others grow and use the tools they need to get unstuck. Most clients I have worked with feel stuck and need help.
My goals for you
I approach clients by exploring small, manageable, and realistic goals in order to be attainable.
My first session with you
