Hello, I’m John Rego, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’ve been practicing for twenty years in a variety of settings including private practice, managed care, and healthcare. My areas of specialty include Grief/ Bereavement, Faith Based Counseling, Men’s Mental Health, and Leadership/ Business consulting. I look forward to meeting with you and guiding you back on your path to wellness.
My approach
I primarily use a solution-focused and strengths-based approach, however also incorporate CBT, DBT, and Narrative therapy models as well.
My focus
I have worked with adults, teens, kids, families, and couples. I treat anxiety, depression, and trauma with the following specialties- Grief/ Bereavement, Men’s Mental Health, Faith Based/ Christian Counseling.
My communication style
I am empathetic and understanding, suspend judgment, and highly curious about the story a client shares. I hope that you will feel heard, understood, and validated. From that place, we would work to uncover the areas of ‘being stuck’ through direct communication and feedback both from myself and in return from you the client.
My journey to mental healthcare
Have been a ‘people person’ since a young child - attuned to other’s challenges, felt deep compassion for the plight of others, and wanted to make the world a better place. Initially thought would find a career through the ministry as a Pastor but ultimately found my calling through the work of counseling and mental health. It’s a deep honor and privilege to work in this field and assist others in their growth journey.
