Hi there, I'm Blake!

Hello, I'm Blake Baum and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who specializes in working with those dealing with depression, anxiety, confidence-building, and women’s issues. I also have more than ten years of experience working with parents of children with disabilities and offering individual therapy to adolescents and adults with varying developmental disabilities.

My approach

I am passionate about working with individuals to build self-esteem, challenge negative thoughts, and enhance relationships with others and with oneself. I utilize a holistic approach and incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, solution-focused therapy, as well as others.

My focus

I believe that mental health and physical health are strongly connected and often encourage time outdoors, exercise, and self-care strategies for those who find themselves dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, and other medical conditions.

My communication style

I encourage collaboration and direct communication. I aim to offer a safe therapeutic space in which we can work together to determine the right tools to help you lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. Therapy can involve hard work but I hope to turn the experience into something you look forward to and find truly healing.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have dealt with ongoing bouts of depression for many years and experienced extreme anxiety after becoming pregnant with my second child. I know firsthand how important mental health is to one's self and the people in our lives.

My goals for you

When setting goals I want to find out what is most important to you and then assist you to create small, achievable steps in order to make those things happen.

My first session with you

During the first session, I want to get to know you and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. I also want to allow time for any questions or fears that you may have to be answered and calmed. My hope is that you leave feeling safe and a little lighter than you came into the session.
