Hi, my name is Rachel Drabecki, and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (#128153). My approach to therapy is generally very client-centered and collaborative, and I enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds.
My approach
As a mainly client-centered and humanistic therapist, I find it helpful to focus on the present. I strive to meet you where you are and to gain a deep understand you. I also often employ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you move through your feelings and circumstances, rather than working around or avoiding them. When it is helpful, we will address past trauma and relationships. Through these methods, I am able to help to reach your therapy goals and realize the changes you want to make in your life.
My focus
In the past, I have really enjoyed working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, including teens and adolescents, adults, and couples. Going forward, I would also love to work with new parents.
My communication style
In sessions, I create a safe and calm space in which my clients can feel comfortable being their most authentic selves. You will feel warmly welcomed, never judged, and able to be free and open about yourself.
My journey to mental healthcare
There have been many times in my life when I felt lost, lonely, or confused. Sometimes it was around a romantic relationship; other times, it was around family relationships, work, social relationships, self-worth, my future, or something else. During challenging times, it has been helpful to talk to friends, but during the most difficult times, it was always helpful to speak with a professional therapist. Helping others has been something I have craved throughout my personal and professional life, and I have found that being a therapist is the best way I can do that.
My goals for you
Goal setting is up to the client. While I am always happy to provide guidance, I am here to collaborate with you on meeting your goals aligned with your own values.
My first session with you
During a first session, we will discuss a bit about your background, why you are seeking therapy, and what your goals are in working with me. If applicable, we might discuss what sort of approach you want to take in therapy, whether you prefer to dive deeper into your past, focus more on present issues and relationships, or create more short-term goal-focused solutions.
