I am Dale Ryder LCSW and look forward to assisting you on your healing journey. I utilize a needs-based approach to guiding and managing mental health concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, and other related issues. When one is able to release the patterns from the past and redefine needs the body can resource itself and be present.
My approach
I utilize needs assessment and getting actual needs met over wounded needs. This includes parts work, looking at how those parts adapted and began to function from the wound. A strengths-based approach is then applied to the perceived weaknesses and a new definition of self and needs emerges.
My focus
I work with trauma patients, families, and couples who suffer from depression and anxiety.
My communication style
I am calm and present and offer the client the space to express whatever they may be needing. I do energy work as well and can provide guided imagery if needed.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been considered a counselor, even in high school, helping friends through difficult times. My goal was to help at-risk youth and received my bachelor's degree in criminal justice. I worked in the probation field with youth and then adults. During this time I discovered the counselor in me/the empath in me needed a different way to assist. This led to me pursuing a master's in social work.
My goals for you
The goals in therapy will be centered around unmet needs and how to get those needs met. The client can share their intentions for therapy and we will create a needs list from those goals.
My first session with you
The client will share their reason for seeking assistance and any other information that is relevant. Clients will be encouraged to share a current event that has been activating for them and we will use the reactivity chart to map thoughts/feelings/reactions with some education on the neurobiology of reaction in the body.
