Hi there, I'm Andrew!

Hi, I'm Andrew Mohamed and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker originally from NYC, and loving the California experience! I take a collaborative approach with my clients in identifying problem areas that are influencing unhealthy dynamics in their life. This can be depressive experiences, anxiety-riddled moments, concerns around various relationships in your life, or life transitions that are feeling challenging to navigate. And it’s OK if you don’t have it all figured out, we can unpack things that are feeling troublesome for you together.

My approach

I utilize a psychodynamic approach with an emphasis on mindfulness techniques to build a healthier means of communication, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. I put great value in growing a positive therapeutic relationship with my clients, joining them in their ‘dark places’ and working together to climb our way out. Together, we can identify the key role players in your life's story and rewrite false narratives that no longer serve you.

My focus

As a Guyanese-American man of South Asian ancestry, I understand the importance of BIPOC representation and it’s my pleasure to provide guidance to those who seek it. I enjoy working with motivated adults and couples from various walks of life who are curious about understanding how their past may be impacting their present or looking to gain more awareness of what’s going on for them and taking meaningful steps toward accessing their higher sense of “self”. I’m interested in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, multigenerational trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, and men who are curious about exploring their understanding of “masculinity”.

My communication style

I’ve been told that I provide a calm and balancing energy in sessions and I'm also transparent and compassionate in my delivery. So when we need to go slow and you need someone to hear your side of things, I’m there. And if you need a firm boundary and a gentle push for growth and accountability, I can provide that as well. A little humor also goes a long way.

My journey to mental healthcare

I started out volunteering in high school working with individuals with autism and that propelled me into the world of social services. From there, I worked with individuals with severe psychiatric concerns, families in need throughout NYC, the shelter system, students in higher education, residential group homes for system-impacted adolescents, community mental health programs in the Southern California region, and now private practice. I’m very grateful to have a career that grants me the ability to share in the life experiences of others, help them to find the best version of themselves, and create new cycles so they can share that wealth of goodness with those around them.

My goals for you

When I start meeting with clients, I guide them through exploration and visualization to help them set realistic goals, and develop action plans that help individuals acknowledge their strengths and advocate for their needs. This is Your life and meaningful change takes time! So let's be honest with ourselves and take one step at a time.

My first session with you

To have an open conversation with a person who is also trying to do their best “at life”. I put great value in growing a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients. I am authentic in who I am in and out of sessions and that’s what I hope to share with you. So we’ll go slow and together, we’ll call things out as we see it.
