Hi there, I'm Nancy!

My name is Nancy Herrera-Cheng, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working with clients in California via telehealth. I work with adult individuals to develop coping strategies for anxiety and stress, improve relationships, develop communication skills, and set boundaries to gain peace. I am also trauma-informed. My theoretical approach is built on a foundation of the Person-Centered approach integrating other evidence-based modalities to meet the individual's needs.

My approach

In addition to the Person-Centered approach, I use Mindfulness, CBT, Object Relation Therapy, and a Humanistic approach to help my clients enhance their well-being and move from emotional pain toward healing and growth.

My focus

I enjoy working with adults aged 18 and older who deal with a variety of issues, including anxiety, stress, and transitions, including divorce, breakups, moving away to college, etc. I help my client develop strategies that allow them to maneuver through difficult periods in their lives with more confidence and ease.

My communication style

My communication style is authentic, calm, and non-judgmental. I provide active listening and a safe environment that encourages my clients to have open and honest communication with me.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have a natural curiosity about people and enjoy being around diverse groups. This led me to volunteer in the community, such as homeless shelters, NAMI, Literacy Education, etc. I wanted to help people on a deeper level and found that Clinical Social Work was the career for me. I enjoy helping people live a more fruitful and fulfilling life.

My goals for you

I work in partnership with my clients to develop and prioritize goals. Together, we will track progress as we work to accomplish their goals.

My first session with you

In the first session, we will begin building rapport. We will spend time talking about what brought the client to therapy, how they have been feeling, and how I can help. I will listen, and then we will begin the road to discovery.
