Hello and Welcome! Maricsa Evans, M.A., LMFT I am a licensed marriage and family therapist eager to provide holistic treatment to clients struggling with depression, anxiety and life stressors.
My approach
Maricsa uses a person-centered approach when providing therapy and takes time to build rapport in order to develop a healthy therapeutic relationship with clients.
My focus
Maricsa currently works with individuals and couples to create and implement effective and individualized treatment plans. In addition, she has foundational coursework and training in cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies.
My communication style
Communication is key to understanding others and being understood is something that makes many people feel safe, valued, and cared for. When people feel deeply heard, understood, and believed, it can be transformative for them, particularly when moving on from trauma or difficult life events. I provide a safe nonjudgmental environment for clients to feel safe.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was always in the helping profession and found it very rewarding. Knowing that I have a part in affecting the life of another human being keeps me motivated. Giving hope when people feel hopeless. Inspiring others to be all that they are capable of being so that they can go out into the world and pay it forward by helping others is my passion.
My goals for you
I use the strategies listed below for goal setting, and working to achieve goals. Start Slow. I get to know my client beyond his or her symptoms and illness experience. ... Start Small. ... Specific Goals. ... Measurable Goals. ... Attainable/Achievable Goals. ... Relevant. ... Time-bound/Time-related. ... Support.
My first session with you
During the first session, I usually ask: What are your symptoms? What brought you to therapy? What do you feel is wrong in your life? Some questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), current living situation, and career. We will discuss and also come to an agreement about the length of your treatment, methods to be employed, and the ins and outs of client confidentiality.
