Hi there, I'm Michele!

Hi! My name is Michele Dorn, and I am a Marriage Family Therapist in Orange County, California. I see clients throughout the state via telehealth services. I work with children adolescents and adults. I specialize in executive dysfunction, anxiety, depression, and related disorders impeding academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioral issues. My main drive is to assist you on your journey to improve your life.

My approach

My approach to therapy is predominantly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy although I use different modalities as my client's needs arise. My therapeutic approach usually includes small homework assignments and accountability sessions as well to stay focused and on track.

My focus

My style and approach typically serve persons with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and learning differences I also treat executive dysfunction challenges so I will commonly see clients that may have learning issues that impede academic progress.

My communication style

My communication style is inviting and collaborative. We will work together on your goals and utilize tools that I know will certainly improve your quality of life, no matter what problems might be present in your life. I have a can-do attitude and we will work hard in motivation to make the process something in which you will find of value.

My journey to mental healthcare

My walk has led me to helping other people know matter where I have been in life, so it was a natural progression for me to become a therapist. I have served in the public education system for 22 years as a special education teacher. I have worked with students with varying issues and decided to start an educational therapy practice many years ago. I added my MFT license to the practice and have built a great relationship here in my community. I truly enjoy solving problems and being a support to those who might need it. My future goals include writing and research in therapeutic modalities to support certain populations that are underserved.

My goals for you

As we work together, we will draft goals and benchmarks to start making progress in areas that are clearly defined and easy to measure. You are the best director! Therefore, I will support you on goal setting and we can collaboratively adjust those goals as needs change.

My first session with you

Clients should expect a warm and inviting reception. My clients can also expect to do some good work toward identifying goals and possibly do some rating scales to help us make good decisions that will point us in the right direction. Each session will have some rating scales to determine if we are on the right track or if we need to adjust the methods and strategies to make a greater difference.
