My name is Brandon Wetzler and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Huntington Beach, California, and working with clients in person and via telehealth. I work with individuals and couples specializing in anxiety, stress, depression, ptsd, relationship issues, family conflict, self-esteem, and life transition issues using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, EMDR, Psychodynamic therapy, and other modalities to help my clients work through their most important challenges and start feeling better.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I utilize several approaches like Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic to help me build a connection with you and understand your experience so you can have the change, clarity, and resolution you're seeking.
My focus
I typically work with individuals who are dealing with the challenges of life transitions, relationship issues, and adverse childhood experiences. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, and PTSD. I help my clients work through these challenges and get clarity on how to move forward while gaining more inner peace.
My communication style
You can expect a warm, friendly environment when working with me that will allow you to feel comfortable sharing anything. You can also expect to get feedback on issues in need of resolution so you have some guidance moving forward.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey toward becoming a therapist began in my adolescent years when I had a strong interest in psychology and learning about how people relate to each other. But it wasn't until years later after broken relationships and overall discontentment with myself that I was compelled to seek out my own psychotherapy in hopes of healing & understanding myself better. This was one of the best decisions I made, and that decision has been a catalyst of healthy change & growth in my life ever since. I wanted to help people overcome obstacles to inner peace & happiness and wanted them to know they mattered. So becoming a therapist became the next natural step for my passion and now I love seeing people become the best versions of themselves.
My goals for you
We will work together to clarify what goals are most important for you to work on in therapy. This often starts by building trust in a safe environment and then working collaboratively towards setting goals & how to reach them.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend time talking about what your current struggles are and how you've been feeling recently as well as what you hope to achieve in therapy. I will listen to your story and ask questions to better understand your experience and build an initial connection with you. Then we will have a better sense of where we should go from there.
