Hi there, I'm Sheryl!

I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and substance use issues using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with other therapeutic approaches.

My focus

I have found that my style and approach work well with adults. Many clients struggle with life transitions which can cause different levels of anxiety and depression. I assist clients to normalize feelings around such life events and provide them with tools and strategies to increase their level of functioning and well-being.

My approach

My approach to therapy is individualized, based on where the client is currently, and whether they have had any prior therapy or not; deciding together what was helpful or not. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) quite frequently along with mindfulness strategies and bibliotherapy.

My communication style

I provide a compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgmental space for healing, self-exploration, and discovery. I provide support and care while allowing clients to explore many areas or facets of their lives; past, present, as well as in their future.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because I have always been interested in people; their lives, cultures, relationships, thoughts, and feelings. The field of therapy has been a good fit for me personally and professionally. I enjoy exploring many avenues with clients and assisting them as an advocate, educator, coach, and guide.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is about working collaboratively to find out what you want to accomplish during our therapeutic sessions; focusing on building rapport and educating about the therapeutic process itself.

Our first session

Our first session together will be talking about how you have been feeling lately and listening as you share your perspective on current and past issues. It will also include a detailed history taking. An important component will be to establish a working relationship and build rapport based on compassion and respect.
