My communication style

I offer a warm, accepting space with active engagement. I have a strong personality and stay curious throughout sessions, asking questions to explore how you've reached certain conclusions or perspectives. Expect genuine interest and direct involvement.

My journey to mental healthcare

I was my family's "therapist" before I became a real therapist, listening, guiding, and advising my older siblings and friends. When I started teaching at the local community college, I wanted a career where I had more autonomy. I had a long-term therapist that I was seeing, and he suggested that I look into becoming a therapist.

My goals for you

I ask what you'd like to achieve, though many clients need time to clarify their goals. I typically wait until the third session to set clear goals once we both understand where you're directing our work together.

Our first session

The intake process is a time for the client to provide a "summary" of their life, essentially sharing a timeline of their experiences and what has brought them to seek therapy at this time. I will also be reviewing with the client what they would like the "focus" of the sessions to be (at least initially).
