My name is Ericka Paez and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Brain Health Coach through the Amen Clinics. As a military veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne, spouse of a military veteran turned first responder and now spouse of that first responder I bring a multilayered experienced approach to understating what you're going through. My family is blended and we have navigated that dynamic for over a decade, as well.
My approach
I take a 'whatever works' approach to therapy and believe in a holistic approach to brain health. We will dive into all the factors that can impact the way our brain works, and create a detailed and individual plan to move forward. Brain health, science-based explanations of why we do what we do, and why certain treatments are helpful to connect the dots for many of my clients in a way they've not experienced before. I most often use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, solution-focused therapy, and others in my work.
My focus
Military veteran, first responder spouse, blended families, divorce proceedings, parent of small children and an adult child, former division 1 athlete, and chronic illness are all areas that resonate for me or I have direct experience within my own life and/ or family. PTSD is my main thing and I honor those who come to me to move through that and find the other side.
My communication style
I am pretty direct, and don't beat around the facts. I can flex to support those in various stages of change from looking to start to find answers, those ready to change, those stuck with other therapists, and those who think that sometimes therapy feels hokey! Working with me often feels like a breath of fresh air. I often hear "You're like a mind ninja!" Or "How do you know that about me?" And have been called The Brain Mechanic.
My goals for you
While I may have thoughts in my mind I look to you to discuss what goals you are seeing me to work towards. Let's start the conversation and see if I can't help you get clear on what goals might be best for what you're going through.
