I am Dzenana Tiric, a person-centered Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been trained in and use different approaches to best help you address current struggles. I believe in keeping up with the ever-changing world and new discoveries about us humans through research, training, and continued education. Lastly, I believe in creating a warm, accepting, safe, and nonjudgmental environment that allows for self-exploration, raising self-compassion and acceptance.
My approach
I use approaches of Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Compassion, and Reality Therapy.
My focus
The fact that you are reading this may mean that you have decided to make some changes in your life. If there is any truth to this, you may already have made some major steps towards that change by just deciding to reach out. In addition to exploring and processing in therapy, learning more about your emotional health and your thinking process is the first step to feeling better and making seemingly small, but significant changes.
My communication style
I believe in creating a warm, accepting, safe, and nonjudgmental environment that allows for self-exploration, raising self-compassion and acceptance. When we get to a place of acceptance, we usually are able to feel better, see our life clearer, and have a better idea of where we want to go next.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had an interest in human development and behavior and chose to specialize in areas of emotion and thoughts as I find these areas to be among the most important factors of our everyday existence.
My goals for you
You can expect us to talk about the focus of treatment by identifying goals that describe steps we will take to help you address the issues that brought you here.
My first session with you
When we first meet, we will talk about all that is relevant to the reason why you are seeking therapy. It may feel less like a therapy session and more like a questioning session. The goal of the first therapy session is for me to get a comprehensive picture of the issues that are creating struggles for you, and for you to ask me any therapy-related questions and express concerns if any.
