I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) based in Southern California with extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families.
My approach
I believe the role of a therapist is that of a collaborator and I tailor my approach to the needs of my clients. I utilize several modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy(CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy(MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy(SFBT), Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), and Motivational Interviewing Method.
My focus
I generally work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, substance use, and other mental health concerns, as well as social and relationship issues causing stress in couples and family relationships. I believe anyone wanting to overcome a matter holding them back in life can benefit from therapy.
My communication style
I believe in creating a warm, interactive, and non-judgmental space to collaborate with my clients and use effective communication skills as well as humor to create a relaxed and non-threatening atmosphere for us to work in.
My journey to mental healthcare
I believe our purpose in life is to find our gift. This is usually what we love to do and what we are very good at. What gives our lives meaning is giving our gifts away to others. This is a second career for me, and I came to find my gift with a considerable amount of introspection and have loved collaborating with each and every client.
My goals for you
Goals transport our aspirations into reality. In therapy, they help clients and therapists collaborate and establish a clear vision for client's desired outcome. Sometimes clients come to therapy with clear goals and other times we will work together to create goals for the duration of therapy. Either way, a very important part of goal setting is tracking progress.
My first session with you
I love meeting new people and try to make the process of getting to know you as stress-free as possible. I will ask questions to get better acquainted with you and learn about the issues compelling you to seek therapy and your desired outcome.
