Hi there, I'm Matthew!

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California, based in the city of Los Angeles. With a natural curiosity and appreciation for cultural considerations, I approach life with a driven sense of purpose. I bring humor into the therapy room whenever possible, as I believe laughter is the best medicine, especially during life's hard jolts and twists.

My approach

My therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I aim to help you navigate life's twists and turns like a GPS, providing guidance and support along the way.

My focus

I am willing to see individuals, couples, and families. My areas of specialty include anger management, ADHD, anxiety, behavioral issues, bipolar disorder, depression, divorce, domestic violence, eating disorders, family conflict, grief, life transitions, OCD, parenting, personality disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual addiction, sexual abuse, trauma and PTSD, suicidal ideation, panic attacks, and autism or Asperger's syndrome.

My communication style

I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself. When appropriate, I like to incorporate humor and laughter into our sessions. I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).

My journey to mental healthcare

Prior to becoming a marriage and family therapist, I worked as a stand-up comedian. My passions for dinosaurs, animals, and making people laugh, even for free, led me to pursue a career in mental healthcare. Over the past 10 years, I have worked in various settings, including nonprofit organizations, outpatient substance abuse facilities, crisis on-call agencies, and the judicial system.

My goals for you

My goal is to help you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and achieve personal growth. I will work collaboratively with you to identify and address the challenges you face, empowering you to make positive changes in your life.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and establish a foundation for our therapeutic relationship. I will listen attentively to your concerns and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals and needs.
