I'm Katy (she/her), an LMFT and a somatic therapist working in mental health for more than a decade. Maybe you've been in therapy in the past, but the changes you were looking for never really happened. You haven't been able to think your way out of your past traumatic experiences, and now life seems to be adding new problems to the old ones.
My approach
Somatic Experiencing therapy is a gentle method of working with and resolving chronic stress and trauma that may have resulted in problems with relationships, anxiety, depression, and problematic substance use. During therapy, we pay attention to thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations that arise, work to resolve the distress that comes up, and increase overall resiliency.
My focus
I work with people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, grief and loss, perimenopause/menopause, aging, and other life transitions.
My communication style
In our sessions, I listen with empathy and attunement, creating a safe space for you to share. I ask thoughtful questions to understand your experience on a deeper level. My approach is gentle yet direct, guiding you to tune into your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you.
My goals for you
My hope is that you will develop more balance in your life and increase your resiliency to stress and your capacity to participate actively in your life.
