Hi there, I'm Jayanne!

Hello! My name is Jayanne Abejo and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). It is my passion to help individuals find it within themselves to develop the insight, compassion, and tools to live a life of joy, fulfillment, and authenticity. I have worked with a broad range of clients (youth, adults, and elderly) who have experienced symptoms of depression/anxiety, stress tolerance, trauma, mood/psychotic disorders, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, life transitions/identity, phase of life grief, family issues, relationship challenges, and substance use difficulties.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Therapy (MT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Client-Centered Therapy. These therapeutic approaches will help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality, and allow us to work together to find and discover healing, growth, and connection.

My focus

I have worked with young adults, adults, and the elderly population. Each individual I have worked with has dealt with the challenges of life transitions. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and life changes. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to empower my clients to build tools and skills to allow them to build healthy, balanced, and meaningful lives, fulfilling careers, and satisfying relationships with others.

My communication style

I support and empower my clients with my undivided attention in a warm, safe, trusting, collaborative learning environment and non-judgmental space.

My journey to mental healthcare

I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. Whether it was volunteering in my community, being a trusted and loyal friend, or volunteering at a hospital, I have always naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. It's a joy seeing people become the best versions of themselves when they are seen and heard.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what the client wants to accomplish in our time together. This starts by establishing and building trust between us, and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we'll work together to set goals and track progress.

My first session with you

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you've been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The initial session is about us building a therapeutic connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there and what will work best for you moving forward.
