Hello, my name is Kristen Holt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I believe that therapy is such a beneficial tool to help individuals heal, discover new things about themselves, reduce shame, and live a fuller life.
My approach
I use an eclectic approach by including ideology and skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered, and DBT.
My focus
I have worked with children, adolescents/teens, and adults. I have worked in school districts providing mental health therapy for elementary, middle, and high school students who were struggling to engage in school due to mental health concerns. I am comfortable working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, learning disabilities, gender identity, autism, behavioral concerns, relationship issues, and family conflicts.
My communication style
I aim to have a collaborative relationship with my clients, and I try to create an environment that is safe and welcoming without any judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I love being able to be part of an individual's journey of healing, and I feel it is an honor to hear other people's individual stories. I believe that taking care of our mental health is crucial to living a happy and fulfilling life.
My goals for you
When talking about goals, I include the individual's input in deciding on areas they want to focus on and how they would like to see a change in their lives. Mutually deciding on goals is an important value for me as I work with individuals.
My first session with you
In the first session, I like to focus on building a trusting relationship by going over informed consent and confidentiality and setting time for individuals to ask any questions about myself. I believe finding a good match between a clinician and the individual is important, as the relationship is what makes therapy effective.
