Hi there, I'm Nina!

Hello, my name is Nina Atanassova, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I provide counseling to individuals, couples, and families. I help clients with issues related to: * Depression and Anxiety * Stress Management * Domestic Violence * Anger Management * Self Esteem Issues * Communication and Relationship Issues * Adolescent Behavioral Issues * Trauma, Grief and Loss * Parenting and Step-Parenting Issues

My approach

In my practice, I believe that the process of change requires an approach that is tailored to each individual's unique style and needs. I strive to create a collaborative, caring, and supportive atmosphere that will assist you in identifying and changing the thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal styles that are no longer effective for you. I offer a confidential, supportive, and caring environment free of judgment that will facilitate your journey through difficulties and challenges.

My focus

Most of my clients are high-functioning adults who experience anxiety, depression, relationship and life stress/transition issues.

My communication style

I strive to create a collaborative, caring, and supportive atmosphere that will assist you in learning new behavior repertoires and help you develop more effective coping skills to see life's challenges.

My journey to mental healthcare

In retrospect, when I was a child, I would find myself observing people and trying to understand their motivations, emotions, and experiences from their point of you so as to make sense of my own experiences with them. Organically, this translated into an interest in the field of psychology later on in life. In my early 20s, I realized that I would like to become a therapist having an interest in people from a young age. What drives me is the amount of meaningful time and interactions I spend each day talking and helping the clients that I see. I always say there is no other job that gives you that much sense of meaning and gratitude for life and human nature.

My goals for you

After completing the initial assessment to identify the primary issues, I discuss goal setting with the clients and the men to accomplish them.

My first session with you

During the first session, I conducted a thorough assessment by asking questions related to the client's background history and clinical diagnosis.
