My name is Ceila (SAY-LA) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist who was born in Mexico and raised in California. I view therapy as a unique opportunity to establish a safe haven for exploring thoughts and emotions without judgment. I recognize the influence of culture on our mental health. I work with my clients to explore and understand how their cultural roots impact their thoughts, emotions, and relationships.
My approach
I recognize that everyone is different and has their own experiences and needs. I use a variety of techniques to help people. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness practices, and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
In my clinical practice, I place importance on empowering clients to find their own strength to face life’s challenges. I have over 9 years of experience addressing a variety of mental health concerns including depression, generalized anxiety, unhealthy relationships including interpersonal violence, self-esteem, incidents of trauma, life transitions, and managing stress.
My communication style
My first priority is to create a relationship with my clients that is centered on mutual respect and open conversation.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey into therapy started as a first-generation college student at the University of California, San Diego. I found myself completely removed from my support system and there were moments when I felt profoundly isolated. This experience ignited a professional passion to help others find their path to healing and growth.
