Hi there. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose goal is to provide you with tools to enhance the potential you already possess. My style is to be direct and encouraging while allowing you to choose what your priority is.
My approach
I often utilize attachment and narrative therapy based on all areas of counseling while focusing on thoughts, feelings, and behavior (CBT) in the now.
My focus
I have experience working with children as young as 6 months doing parent-child attunement therapy. I have trained in parent-child attachment therapy for children up to age 8 and utilize trauma-focused work to address areas such as child abuse, domestic violence, and other forms of trauma.
My communication style
My clients often appreciate working with me because I empower them to make decisions, and have autonomy in how the sessions will go, but I am direct in my approach. The goal in therapy is for you to make connections to issues and patterns on your own, but often, in the beginning, you may need support in doing so.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to help clients sort through the puzzle that is within them. I was often the peacekeeper in both my family and circle of friends but did not shy away from healthy conflict. I have been fortunate to have great mentors that I have guided me in my journey to be a licensed clinician. I learned that in order to help others do the work, I had to do my own work first.
My goals for you
Goal setting is driven by the client. If there is something that could cause harm to the client or others, then I will add a goal. If there are other needs that arise, such as medical evaluations or medication evaluations, then I will make the appropriate referral, which would become a goal.
My first session with you
The clients should expect a session where I speak very little and ask questions. The first session is about getting to know the client and answering any questions to ensure comfortability.
